Congratulations (11 June)
The College of Education would like to congratulate several of its alumni on their latest acheivements:
Education Plus moving to the Dovedale campus (5 June)
Education Plus will be located in Otakaro with their main reception area in the previous Annex area facing out to Solway Ave. Construction will begin soon and completion at the end of this year is expected.
Welcome to the arrival of two new Professors in Education (May)
This marks an exciting and significant step forward for our College in building our research capacity. Professor Roberts in the School of Educational Studies and Human Development and Professor Davis in the School of Literacies and Arts in Education.
Staff appointment (14 April)
The College of Education would like to welcome Sharon Cooke as the new College Manager.
Staff appointment (19 March)
Ali Wegner and Jae Major have been jointly appointed to the 0.2 FTE seconded position of Programme Coordinator - Professional Development Qualifications. The purpose of the position is to provide, among other things, for the oversight and development of professional development qualifications. Ali and Jae will work closely with coordinators in this area and on developments that emerge out of the Review of Professional Development Qualifications.
Acting College Manager appointed (18 Jan)
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Gail Gillon has appointed Ann Kilgour to the role of Acting College Manager. A permanent appointment to the role of College Manager is expected in late March.

Dean appointment (4 Jan)
Associate Professor Janinka Greenwood has been appointed Associate
Dean - Postgraduate Studies for 0.3 of her current continuing academic position.
Congratulations on the 2007 Academic Promotions (12 Dec)
Dr Kathleen Liberty and Dr Judi Miller have been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor.
Steve French and Patrick Shepherd have now been promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer.
Professorial Announcements (19 Nov)
Gail Gillon, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Education, has announced that Professor Niki Davis and Associate Professor Peter Roberts have accepted the positions of Professor of Education. Prof Davis will join the School of Literacies and Arts and Prof Roberts will join the School of Education Studies and Human Development. They are both very excited about the appointments and will start in early 2008.
Health Science Centre joins College of Education (25 Oct)
The Health Sciences Centre will relocate to be within the College of Education as of Jan 1, 2008. We already have associations with this centre in the Early Intervention area and through staff in our Child and Family Psychology programme. We look forward to exploring new areas of development in postgraduate teaching and research with the Health Sciences Centre next year.
School welcomes new Acting Head of Department (17 Oct)
Dr John Church has been appointed Acting Head of School for the School of Educational Studies and Human Development. John will commence in this role on Thursday 1st November 2007 for a period of six months.
College of Education welcomes new Pro-Vice-Chancellor (5 Sept)
Professor Gail Gillon's first day as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) was officially marked on Wednesday (5 September) with a powhiri welcoming her to the College of Education.

Lecturer of the Year (21 Aug)
Congratulations to Huhana Carter (Māori, Social and Cultural Studies) who has been named University of Canterbury Lecturer of the Year by the UCSA.
Other nominations for the College were Patrick Shepherd (Literacies and Arts) and Mick Grimley (Educational Studies and Human Development).
UC appoints new Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) (3 Jul 07)
Associate Professor Gail Gillon has been appointed to the position of Pro-Vice-Chancellor and professor of the UC College of Education. Her appointment will take effect on 5 September.
