These qualifications address the need to increase New Zealand's use of e-technologies effectively within teaching, community courses, business and industry and in schools.
The GDipICTEd is suitable for teachers who wish to improve their ICT skills and develop strategies for classroom use, who hold or wish to hold the position of ICT Resource Person or Facilitator in their school or who have an interest in Information and Communication Technology. All courses are available through online delivery and flexible delivery options can be arranged for regional groups and ICT clusters.
The GradCertOTL aims to provide an online qualification for educators who wish to have the knowledge and skills to integrate e-learning strategies in their classrooms to be effective online teachers. The GradCertOTL will appeal to educators from all primary, secondary and tertiary institutions who are involved in distance learning, online teaching or who are interested in incorporating blended or e-learning strategies in their classroom. All courses in the certificate are level 7 and are able to be used to contribute to the Graduate Diploma in Information and Communication Technology in Education, and may used with agreed additional study, towards the the Graduate Certificate in Teaching Studies and the Bachelor of Teaching and Learning upgrade.
The entry requirements for both the GDipICTED and GradCertOTL are a degree in teaching or equivalent. You will also need access to a class for most courses.
