Some of the courses offered as part of the degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning are available by distance, that is, are available to students not located within travelling distance to the College. Some distance courses each involve one block session in Christchurch (or at another negotiated location), held during school vacation periods.
Students must have access to the Internet, a personal email account and telephone access. (Telephone contact with lecturers is usually made during weekends or evenings.) Students are also encouraged to make contact with each other by telephone, email or Internet. Several courses make use of electronic discussion lists to encourage interaction between participants.
The College Library provides support through an introductory booklet, special provisions for distance students and easily accessible staff.
Bridget O'Regan or Susan Lovett are available to answer MTchLn distance queries.
We cater for individual students who wish to study a course that is not offered in 'distance' or 'flexible' mode through the courses EDTL872 Special Topic or EDTL875 Independent Study.
