The New Plymouth Centre is co-located within the Western Institute of Technology (WITT) campus and offers the Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood) through a centre-based approach.
Classes for the Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood) are held one day a week, with students being required to attend a licensed early childhood centre (of their own choosing) and spend 15 hours per week (voluntary or paid) to complete the practicum requirement. Students are visited in their practicum centre three times per year and have a trained teacher as a support person in this centre. Part-time options are available.
Students are also required to attend teaching practices in other centres during their studies, and these are arranged by lecturing staff.
Students have access to both WITT’s, and UC’s distance library services.
