The Wayne Francis Cancer Epidemiology Research Group

The Wayne Francis Cancer Epidemiology Research Group was established in 2011 as a partnership between the University of Canterbury School of Health Sciences and the Wayne Francis Charitable Trust.

Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health in populations, and the application of this study to the control of health problems.  Cancer is a significant health problem in New Zealand, with over 20,000 New Zealanders diagnosed with cancer each year.  The Wayne Francis Cancer Epidemiology Research Group was established to support and encourage research into the distribution and determinants of cancer, and efforts to reduce the impact of cancer.
